So I thought I would tell everyone my story... I have read this forum for about 4 months now, and you have all been a big help. I finally got my discharge papers today
in the mail and I am so HAPPY! I filled pro se in August. I got all of the student loans discharged! All of them equaling up to $145,000
. Now there is kind of a story to this, however; at the time I filed my credit rating was 802 (which is pretty good) I had never missed a payment on anything, not a car, not a credit card NOTHING! however, I was engaged to get married. I was 19 when we met, and I had good credit. I co-signed on all of her student loans all of them for over 3 years I am 23 now. In March of last year we got engaged to get married, and she was killed the next day in a car accident
(a drunk driver hit her) now as everyone told me her student loans should have went away, been forgiven because she passed away. however; that was not the case. Instead I got a letter from all the creditors demanding the balance in full. Well I didn't have $145,000 in cash. So I fought it in court for several months. My credit before they started demanding was at 839, and then it started to go down. All the courts said they where sympathetic for me, but the creditors had a right to come after me. So then I decided to try and file BK and get rid of the debt. And it worked. The debt is gone! I AM HAPPY ABOUT THAT, but still missing my fiancee more then ever. I am glad for BK but I feel that I was forced into it. Thought I would let everyone know my story. Not sure if anyone cares but, I WISH all of YOU THE BEST OF LUCK!
