    Looking at credit reports...

As a number of us are just kind of sitting and waiting in regards to our discharges, would it be best to wait until the discharge before looking at our credit reports?

I always see that site where you can check, once a year for free but being as things are, I don't know why I would want to check my report at this time.?

It can be argued either way... I started working on mine early-all my IIB are now correct though I have some errors on other accounts. (Like an account that was transferred to a new lender and then IIB, the IIB trade line is fixed but the original 'transferred' tradeline shows as delinquent.)

At www.annualcreditreport.com, you can check your Experian for free as often as you like. They don't limit it to 1 per year. The info can be different for each bureau-but you can get an idea on whether or not your creditors have started indicating the BK status. They don't always do it right-they tend to note it as IIB, but keep the balance...
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

      Thank you...

What does IIB stand for? I've seen it mentioned before but have no idea?

looked at my credit report...pretty interesting....I have 16 accounts in good standing & 17 accounts that are potentially negative...Experian is pretty informative. I liked the site.

Under potentially negative, it has details of the bk filed and said it will be on record until 2015. I thought bankruptcies were like 7 years?

        What's up with this?

BK stays for 10 years, negative account trade lines are 7.

IIB = Included In Bankruptcy. Its easier to abbreviate!

Keep in mind, the 'potentially negative' would include anything that had any negative info in the past 7 years. Even if it was paid off/resolved in good standing.

so if accounts were late starting 1 year before you filed bk lets say and then 6 months later discahrge. and then they now have IIBK in it as well. what happens 6 years after the bk was filed?

does the late payment info stay on record for only 2 years? or 7?

6 years after the bk was filed (which is 7 years after the late payments went onto the record) does the entire account get deleted due to having negataive info needing to come of?

what about the charge off that happened 6 months later. 6 years and 6 months after the bk was filed (which is 7 years after the charge off happened) does the account get delete then or just the charge off info on the account?
