Can a creditor/collection agency that was included in your bankruptcy call to try to collect a debt? I can't figure it out. I received an interesting call from a collection agency "wanting to make arrangements for the $158" debt that was incurred back in 2000. I was like "WHAT THE F&^K". I told the idiot that my bankruptcy was discharged and they shouldn't be calling me. I must admit that I wasn't very nice, because I'm still wondering how the b@$t@#ds (excuse my new found language - I generally don't talk like this) got my phone number. I haven't had my old number in 2 years (at least). Should I graciously send them a copy of my discharge papers? I'm hoping I scared them away.

no they cant call to collect the debt. fax a copy of the discharge to them.
if they contact you again ask to speak to their supervisor. its illegal for them to try to call and collect on a debt that is no longer owed.Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

Have your lawyer call them and see what their problem is, he should just be able to fax them over a copy of your discharge and that should be the end of it.
