? About reaffirmation

I submitted my forms on 2/3 and my tentative 341 date is Feb 27. there are 2 things I need to reaffirm, my house and my car. When I reaffirm the car I want to see if I can get a better deal from the creditor as well, so I know this may take some back and forth negotiations.

Do I need to approach the creditors first? Or just wait for the meeting?

You can try to contact them at any point. Just keep in mind that since you're under the new law, you need to have it done within 45 days of the 341. Otherwise, your automatic stay ends then for the secured items. (Not a major issue, I think, if you're current.)

If you are filing pro se then you have to contact the creditors yourself regarding the reaffirm agreements. These need to be gotten together and signed before your discharge..... otherwisse you will not be allowed to do it.....

A lot of times this is signed at the 341 meeting if you notify the creditor up front that your reaffirming.

Do yourself a favor, send all mail certified so you have records of what and when you sent it.............
