    Hey MinnyMouth- recipe request

Could you please post your recipe for Ham Dumplings? My mom used to make them and we always loved them, but she doesn't remember her recipe.
Reading your post gave me a craving for them.

    Thanks,

    Vicky

    Okay,
Just to make it "simple" now, I use canned biscuits. This can be made in about 15 minutes and will fill you up!!!

Chunk up some ham, or used leftovers, or ham peices from a spiral ham....

Dump ham chunks in water, boil two or three minutes to get juices out of the ham. Then pinch off peices of biscuit dough (about the size of your thumb), and drop in water with ham peices that is boiling. I usually use 2 cans of biscuit dough. Cook about 8-10 minutes, stirring often...

Ham and dumplings will thicken up as it cooks...... salt and pepper to taste.

Now if you want to do it the HARD WAY.... make your own bread dough and use it....

Try bean dumplings also............using left over soup beans and make like you do ham dumplings........ (poor mans food - but GOOD)...

You can also make blackberry dumplings same way using fresh blackberries -- YUM! YUM! Also cherry dumplings!

LET ME KNOW IF YOU ENJOY!!!!!

Oh, man! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Can't wait until I get my next ham.

I gave up making dumplings from scratch years ago. My MIL does the canned bisquit thing. I lately have used frozen dumpling strips. Have you ever made potato dumplings? Another of my growing up favs. Those I know how to make. For anyone that doesn't- cut up your potatoes and boil them. When done, drop your dumplings of choice in and thicken with flour. Season with salt and pepper, plus a bit of butter margarine. Never miss the meat.

Thanks so much for sharing your recipe with me.

YEP - potato dumplings are GOOD FOOD..... another poor mans meal!!! Try adding a little bit of cheese to those potatoes dumplings. Also you can added canned vegs and make a "pot pie" without the crust....... (or use a quick pie crust and make you a big pot pie.....

Did we grow up poor or just eat good??? lol
Your right, you don't miss the meat either.....

            Kam,
You can do the same thing with blueberries, apple pie filling or strawberries.... but you have to boil water, cook your dumplins, then drain slightly and add your filling afterwards. Strawberries break down too quick if cooked.
Top with whipped cream and YUM YUM........ or a scoop of ice cream..............

Do I know all the fattening stuff or what????
