    Where to begin rebuilding

I am wondering what is the best place to start rebuilding credit, we were discharged from a 13 in Oct. 2005, I know we are going to need a new car soon, does anyone one know of a good book or some guidlines to follow to get started on rebuilding credit. I am in the St. louis, mo area and wondering if there are any banks or car dealers that anyone knows of that will deal honestly with a BK client?? Also does anyone know anything about these seminars "After Bankruptcy" put on by Stephen Snyder? Thanks

First place to start, if you haven't already, is your Credit Reports.

Get copies and go to work correcting errors that you find. You can contact the Creditors to get them to fix the errors. Some may, some may not.

You can dispute the errors with the CRA's. The CRA's will investigate making the Creditors report correctly.

You can get free copies of your credit reports and http://www.annualcreditreport.com

You can Search, upper right, thru old threads for info about BK friendly lenders. There's a whole bunch of them.

Many people here start with an Orchard CC and work up from there.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

Orchard Bank is a good starting point. By getting a couple of accounts reporting positive history, you'll take an important step to rebuilding after BK. That can make it easier to get a car loan, or other credit, in time.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

Anassa613 -you applied for and received an Orchard card and your BK hasnt even been discharged? You NEVER want to apply for credit just before or during the BK process before your case has been discharged. Trustees dont look too kindly at a person who is having their debts discharged and applies for new credit before the process has even been finalized. Someone did that in my county and the trustee found out and dismissed their case.
