    Getting Ready to Do It

I'm going to file on April 24th and I have a question about my checking account. Basically, my company has direct deposit, they require it, but once I pay my bills each month I'm down to zero....is this a problem? Any adivse on what the first steps are that the lawyers won't tell me?

    Thanks!
If I didn't have anything to worry about, I would worry about that...

No, it shouldn't be a problem to have your check directly deposited. Will your payments be deducted from your check or are you paying the Trustee yourself?

As long as they don't see unusual or big deposits, you should be okay. Both my husband and I work for companies who do direct deposit and it has not been a problem so far. I wouldn't let money accumulate in that account.

Do check with your lawyer; however, and don't worry whether or not you are bugging him/her or the paralegal. They work for you; you are paying them good money to take care of this.

Please keep us posted and good luck. I promise you will sleep so much better once the phone calls stop!

I had just gotten paid and had a chuck of change in my account on the date I filed. My attorney showed how much was there at the time and noted that debtor gets paid once per month, money in account to cover normal living expenses for month of April. (Not sure if that will fly at the 341 meeting, but I didn't think it was prudent). She told me she usually just puts $10.00 down there. Of course, attorney bill, house payment, 2nd mortgage payment, and all my other bills popped up, so I will be fighting the cats for there food by the end of the month. Quick how it goes to zero in a hurry.
