When answering questions on the forum be aware that the party that asked the question may not have the slightest idea of what a "means test" is!! They may not know what "charge-off" is, same as they may not understand how to "fix and repair" their credit report........
They ask these questions to get answers....... not to have a question asked back without an answer to their original question.
Few people know or understand the Bankrutpcy process.....EVERYONE THAT FILES has to learn the process and what they can encounter during the process...... Many their attorneys tell them very little, and they have questions with no answer for them. This creates a panic area for them during bankruptcy. Everyone has the desire to know whats going on and what can happen.......... during bankruptcy.
The myths and the facts are two different things!!
And yes the new laws are entirely different than the old laws - so be sure you know which laws they filed under - new or old before you answer their questions.
When a member ask a question, there is NO REASON to be rude, obnoxious, or insulting when answering their questions. If they didn't want to know, they wouldn't have asked!!
And their is NO REASON to be judgemental of anyone's circumstances. WE ALL FILED BANKRUPTCY.............. at least most of us have!!! Others are in the process, or considering filing or may think they need to file and want to know about the process before they get into it.
Let each member treat another with the dignity and respect that we ourselves want from the others.
None of us are "experts" in the bankruptcy process nor are we completely knowledgeable of the ALL the bankrutpcy laws.
We do not give out legal advice - that is what attorneys are for!
We offer support mentally and emotionally. We offer suggestions and sources where members can find more information about the process.
Many of us have filled out the same forms, so many of us know what goes into those forms and which ones to use.
BUT - WE ARE NOT EXPERTS on how that information will be used in the final determination of our case. The Trustee and Judge will determine that......
Any and all information obtained on this forum should also be discussed with your attorney if you need further information or advice.
If in doubt of anything that you have read on this forum - it's best you discuss it with your attorney before filing your bankruptcy.
We are not a forum of LEGAL EAGLES..... we are a support forum for people who file bankruptcy, so any legal advice that someone might offer its best to contact your attorney regarding the issue.
