I got my logins for Pacer and when I go to South Carolina it tells me I have to enter the party name or case #. I don't have these, I just want to get in and see other filings from my atty...is there a way to do this or am I doing something wrong?

You can query by attny name to find how your attny has filed other people's BK's. I've done that.
I ran the queries by entering the attny's last name. Then down toward the bottom is a little box that you can select the type of query. Attny is one of the selections so just pick that. Sometimes, there will be several listings for the same last name. Some will be obviously not your attny. Say you're looking for a man and there are women with the same last name. But, then also, your attny could have used one name for a while and then changed how he/she uses their name now. So when you pick one you think might be yours, be sure to check the address of the office on a petition. You may have to go back and pick another attny.
Example: Your attny's name is James Thomas Smith. You query Smith for the attny and you get 10 hits. 4 are obviously female names so they aren't your guy. There's a Joseph Smith, Roger Smith, and Herbert Smith. Those obviously aren't your guy either. But there's a J. T. Smith, a James T. Smith, and a J. Thomas Smith. Any one of them can be your guy. Or your guy could have used a couple of different names professionally. You'll just have to check the office address in one of the petitions to see if you have the right attny or not.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

I don't see a place to search by atty...am I looking the right place? I go to Pacer site, click on US Party Case Index Login, enter my login info where it says "Welcome to Pacer", under Search I click on Bankruptcy, under region I select South Carolina, and the only fields to fill in are Case Filed Date, Party Name, Four Digit SSN, SSN/TIN, and Case Number.....so I don't see a place to search by atty...Help...If I didn't have anything to worry about, I would worry about that...

Ok,...........
I figured out how I get there. I have to fumble around a bit with it too.
After you log-in, go back to the PACER home page.
In the top tool bar you'll see a box called "Links". Highlight that and you'll get a list of links.
Click on PACER Links. And you'll get a new page.
Scroll down the page until you find your BK District, and click on that link.
Then you'll get a basically blank looking page that has the BK Court seal at the top with a link under that to you District's Document Filing System.
Click on the Document Filing System Link.
Next page says US BK Court of whatever district with the Seal again. But at the top of the page is a tool bar.
Click on Query and you'll get to the page where you can run your Query.
The next page is a box of fill-in boxes for Query Clues. There's a fill-in box for Last Name. The last fill-in box at the bottom says Type. That's where you can select to query by attny.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

I disagree!! I firmly believe it's PACER and the wierd way their system is set up.Originally posted by nervousSCThank you so much! I swear I'm a moron sometimes!
They only have about half a dozen ways you can search. But the one I described I discovered simply by trial and error. It's not like there are any links or directions how to get to that type of query.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
