Is it possible to contact the Trustee directly to discuss an early payoff or do I "have to" go through my lawyer? So far, I feel that our lawyer is not the best person handling our case...

What is the process if I want to request for a lower payment (due to changes in income/expenses)? Would a lawyer charge for each occurrence such as that?

I don't know what is considered "proper", but you would have to contact the trustee anyway to find out the payoff amount.
