My wife and are divorcing and I am going to have to file for bankruptcy. My wife however is not.
Some background info:
We have our own creditcards;;; no joint accounts
We have our ow cars
The house is in her name only for the payment. I am on the deed, but I know we can do a q. claim.
She is worried that if I file for bankruptcy then it will somehow affect her situation eventhough we dont share any accounts.
Is that true?
Do we need to be divorced first or does it matter if everything is seperate?
Most important concern is this: She thinks that any debt that I obtained on my credit cards while we were married would make her repsonsible even though her name is not on the account. She think it doesnt matter because we were married.
We are still friends and I am trying to make her feel at ease about this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
