I think that they are allowed to look back one year.

My trustee asked for the last 2 bank statements. They can go back further if they want. As long as you can account for where your money went, it should be okay.

When you file, the Trustee will want to see the last 2 or 3 bank statments. But, like FOMO said, the Trustee can look back further if they want. Easily one year. The Trustee can request 2 years if they want without a sweat. Be prepared to explain anything you're asked about where money came from or where it went.
          Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
          Discharged - 12/2006
Officially Declared No Asset - 03/2007
          Closed - 04/2007

Our trustee asked for the previous 3 bank statements initially. When we were summoned to appear before the U.S. Trustee she asked for statements from the last 3 YEARS so you need to be prepared for anything especially checks with large amounts. As long as you dont have anything to hide - dont worry.

Our attorney asked for our account balances - but neither he nor the trustee asked to see any bank statements. (Chapter 13 - if that matters)

I don't even have mine for the past 3 years. Do you know if the ccc charges for them?

                  Ouch!

I only have mine for the past year and a half --- leaky roof in storage closet took out two boxes with mold by the time I discovered a problem. I checked ith my credit union for 2004 statements, and they will send me copies. BUT want $25 for each month!!!! They are "archived" and I have to pay a "search fee" for each month. Crazy, since they only need to "search" once to find 2004 and then charge me copying fee for each page, but no arguing with them, sigh....If mine are requested that far back, I wonder if I can get them shook loose by a "polite" official letter from US trustee or court? My lawyer said not to do anything unless the court looks further back than this past insane year for me. (I still need to get together final payment of $400 for him + $299 filing fee, so $120 would be double "ouch" right now.) Too bad I didn't keep the moldy box (wicked grin on my part here!!!) so trustee could have fun sneezing and sorting.

I was just going to be charged from my doctor (that won't see me anymore due to an outstanding bill) for a copy of my bill and I just said that once I see the bill I can verify the charges for payment and it's in the mail. (Never did say I'd actually pay it.)

                      Bank balance

You are required to provide the trustee with 6 months of bank statements, including the month showing the date filed. They can go back up to three or moreyears if their investigation justifies it.

Depends on the person. The one we got only looked at that day. We were told if we got the other one we'd have to go back 30 days.

I had to bring 3 months of statements to the 341 meeting.
