    not honest on credit application

    Hi,
I just filed Chapter 7 last week and I'm really getting nervous about the 341 meeting. I was not honest on my credit applications when I applied for my credit cards. What are the chances that a creditor might be at the meeting and question me about this. I don't know if I'm getting myself crazy over nothing or do I have something to worry about? Please help!
    Thanks

I doubt it will be an issue unless the lies were outrageous. The companies know that this is common, it will probably be a non-issue. the 341 goes fast, if you are no asset there isn't much to it, relax and just be prepped.

Do not fret this meeting, most creditors don't show. i wrote off 58,000.00 in debt for merchandise for my business. AMEX Blue and the big guys who could have nailed me down with proofs of purchase from the distributors did not bat an eye. If you are a regular person, no asset, you'll be fine. Fretting the 341 is like fretting a train wreck because the line is 300 feet from your back door, relax.

I too exaggerated the income statement on credit card applications. Good news is, unless the creditor actually verified all information on the application, they can't hold you liable for a clerical or mathematical error. Who is to say that you didn't fill out the application wrong accidently or in error? The creditor cannot prove anything that they never even bothered to verify. No worries.

        Thank You!

That makes me feel so much better. I am so nervous about this whole thing. I feel like such a dead beat because I filed 8 years ago and here I am again. Last time I don't even think I should have filed because of the amount of debt and this time my child was in a terrible accident which lead to expenses that I could not afford to pay back.

Do not feel like a dead beat. Hell, I think Donald Trump has filed BK.....and just here recently too after his divorce.......and here's a man worth billions.

Don't be nervous about it. Just take it one day at a time and just think about how much better the future will be once this is over.

Donald Trump has filed bk twice, chapter 11 in his businesses, not a personal 7 or 13. Regardless of his ridiculously poor perhaps even non-existent ethics, it was a smart way to do things. What I don't get is why everyone loves the guy, even has his own tv show, after defrauding all who have bought shares of his companies.

No more so than the rest of us have. I know that in my time here, I have prob seen this question asked 4-6 times at least, and I was here long enough to know that nothing bad happened to any of those people. Good luck. Art
