    Capital One, Visa or Mastercard?

Okay, this might be a dumb question, but does anyone know of any difference between Capital One's Platinum Visa & Platinum Mastercard? For example, is one better than the other in any way? Does one tend to have better terms and rates, higher credit limit, etc? Or are they basically the same?

I've gotten numerous offers for both the visa and mastercard, and I was just wondering if one is better to try for than the other.

    Thanks much!

Its basically the same thing. The only difference is visa and mastercard are 2 different companies, so the fees and commissions that are charged to businesses where you use the card and to capital one go to one company or the other. I would personally prefer you use mastercard, as I just bought some of their stock

Thanks. I figured they were about the same, but wanted to make sure.
I'll do my best to go with mastercard:-) Good luck with the stock!

None of them are a smart choice. Why not learn to live without credit cards? Live on what you make and save your money.

          Dream on dude.
If you make millions of dollars a year like Dave Ramsey, you might be able to afford to live debt free.

However, when your making 20K a year, and have a family, you need to have re-established credit to live in this world.

I make 23,000 a year and I live on my own and do just fine. I think back with all the payments I had with credit cards and that was hard enough and I will never go back. So you are telling me that if you can barely get by now it is smart to charge things to a credit card and when the next month comes along you still have that balance from the month earlier so you will again charge stuff to it for that month until it is basically maxed out. While your charging the payments and intrest will get bigger. Now you have reached the credit limit with a high payment and probably even higher intrest and now you dont have the card to charge to anymore so what are you going to do? Move to another card and do the same thing??? Yea buddy credit cards are such a smart thing.

Who says you can't have credit cards and not use them? Many things now require a credit card.

First of all, I am not your "buddy." I am a female, and am no friend of anyone who follows Dave Ramsey.

Apparently you have never heard of paying off a credit card when you use it, and using credit responsibly. I am 100% willing to bet, that while you make that much money, you live in your parents basement, and don't pay any real bills like the rest of us. You obviously are not married and don't have the responsibility of a relationship or children, so when you do, and when you join the rest of us in the real world, then perhaps you will have a say.

Until then, hide under a rock somewhere, and don't come back out. You are really starting to tick me off.

No I live on my own and I guess I live in the fantasy world called living sensibly and not borrowing from everyone who will give me a loan and getting myself up to my eyeballs in debt.

Listen dickbeat. You don't have to open even one line of credit to end up bankrupt. Open your eyes, not your mouth. You will learn things.

How the hell do you go bankrupt if you dont open and charge to credit accounts? Sure I can understand medical bills. But geez people need to learn to start taking financial classes. The national consumer credit debt has gone above 1 trillion dollars and jobs are moving overseas and companies are cutting back and creditors are screwing people over and keeping people in the debt cycle. I wonder when another depression will hit..

So than why are you crying here about it? Sure you can understand medical bills, but you're asking how in the hell people go bankrupt if they don't open credit accounts? You've got some serious personal issues that we can't help you with, I advise you seek some counseling.

I advise you to go to counseling. I laugh at you people. You go through the heartache of bankruptcy and the threats of lawsuit and paycheck garnishments just to run right back to them wanting more. I have sympothy for you people that are in hard times but when you get a break and want to run back that is when I laugh at you.
