    Income Tax question

My income in 2004 was very minimal, about $20k.

My income in 2003 was about $1,500 from unemployment, $1,500 from one job, and about $25,000 from another job. My question is about this $25k income.

For the $25k, I was paid as a contract employee - company checks with no taxes witheld. The company became insolvent, and is millions in debt. I went months without pay before quitting. The company hasn't filed it's own taxes in several years. I doubt it ever, ever will. The company is out of business. I was never given the forms to file taxes, since the company never did it's own. As such, I did not file a tax return for 2003. Therefore, I believe the government doesn't know I made this money, nor will it ever. I don't feel quilty for not paying taxes on the $25, either. The company screwed me out of over $9,000 - and I see it as a fair trade.

Every year prior to 2003 I filed taxes as anyone would. I'm doing my 2004 taxes as well.

What should I tell my bankruptcy attorney about my 2003 income? I have no problem telling him what I actually made, but I can't verify it. Should I just tell him about the $3,000 or so? I don't want to open up a can of worms and all of a sudden have to pay taxes on that $25k - that is my biggest worry.

I guess my real question is - will the bankruptcy court "search" for my income in 2003 and 2004? What are the chances of them finding out about this $25k if I or the company never filed taxes?
