What happens if you are not able to make the meeting because you are out of town? My bankruptcy has taken nearly 6 months just to file and my lawyer says that his secretary will be contacting me soon, but I'm concerned that I won't be in town when it happens--I am taking about 5 days to visit relatives clear across the country. Can they reschedule?

It can be rescheduled. Just do it as soon as you know the date if at all possible. -

You are dealing with a Federal Judge and Federal Court....... it's to be taken extremely seriously....
REMEMBER, they call the shots!!!!!
Best suggestion I can give you is to plan your vacation around your 341 meeting and don't tempt fate.......

Typically the 341 is scheduled about 4 weeks after the file date. Ours was 3 weeks, a little early from what I hear. Must have been a slow time!! You could kind of figure on that. If you haven't filed yet you may want to plan it around your trip.Filed: March 29, 2006

In some Courts like ours, there's only one day for the 341 per month. Small extension of the main Court. Depending on when you file, you can be scheduled for the 341 in as little as 3 weeks. Or it can be as long as 6-7 weeks out.
I'm hoping we pick the right date to file and get one of the earlier dates. I'd hate to wait 6-7 weeks for the 341.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
