    Charge off on credit report?

My credit union is reporting my loan as a charge-off with a balance showing. Is this how it is supposed to be? Am I correct in thinking it should say balance of 0.00 and included in bankruptcy? I received a letter from them saying I have 60 days to close my other accounts with them because I have caused a loss for them. I had left about $65 in there with the hopes of being able to use my accounts again. I guess I was wrong!

A lot of things end up on your credit report; however, you can only find out the official word from the actual lending agency--in this case, the credit union.

If you included them in you bk then yes it should be reporting 0.00 balance and included in bk. If not it is necessary to dispute it with the CRA's to have it corrected. Usually when you default on something with a credit union/bank they will close the accounts for you and withdraw whatever amount you have in there and keep it for themselves. If they are allowing you to close the accounts and withdraw the money you better hurry up because it seems like they are allowing you a courtesy. I hope you have accounts at another credit union/bank because it may be difficult to obtain another checking/savings somewhere else especially if you are in chexsystems, scan, telecheck etc....

Since the accounts have not been closed I would make an effort to open accounts else where before closing those.

I opened new accounts a few months ago. I was just letting a little bit of $ sit there in case they let me keep banking with them. I really liked this bank. I am all set as far as new accounts go. I was just concerned about the way they reported my loan account to the CRA's.

Do I dispute this with the Credit Union first? Or do I go right to the CRA's?
