Did some housecleaning! No more Household or Orchard!

In my quest for better credit, it has became the time to shed the bottom of the barrel lenders. First, cancelled household. Then orchard. Both of them crying me a river not to leave. For a $300 limit? Yeah, ok. In a last ditch effort to save a customer, the orchard lady offered me an 'instant $200 increase' OMG yeah $200! holy crap big money yeah jackpot baby

    I don't think so.

Did they tell you "You get what you pay for in a credit card" higher fees mean better service? They are crack heads I swear!

Um I dunno I just applied and that was it lol...

Airtran is issued by juniper which is known to be bk friendly. You would have to rebuild with a card or two before getting one of their cards tho.

Circuit city is issued by chase bank, which chase itself is not bk friendly but the circuit city card seems to be. It may have made a difference that I had maxed and paid in full a chase card years ago, as with all my other cards but one. I had paid all my credit cards in full except for citibank, by the time I was forced to file.

Son has started on the path to Credit. He was getting offers from banks we never heard of before. Then along came a Cap One offer. I talked him into it, finally. Something may come up and he might need quick money down the road for college. Books, fees, whatever, you never know.

He finally relented. Applied. They gave him a whopping $300 LOC.

After he used it and made his first payment on time, they sent a note saying if he used it and paid on time for 90 days, they'd increase his LOC to $500. So once a month, he buys a tank of gas, and then mails in his payment when the bill comes.

Son was kinda tickled. $500 means if he's short on money at the start of the semester, he can at least buy his books. That's all he's interested in having in the way of a LOC. $500.

Son hates the idea of debt to get his degree. He got thru his Freshman year without one penny of debt. He's so proud!!

Cleaning up is more than getting the card to begin with I think! I'm limiting myself to the number of cards I have. I hate how they beg and drag out the process on the phone.

I wish I could tell you. I honestly think I saw an ad for them on another site and just clicked it figuring I'd be denied and get a free peek at my CR.

I was declined for the direct merchants card, twice. The bureau they pull varies by the state you live in. But all lenders are worth a try, some degree of approval failure after bk is to be expected.
