So, my credit is already wretched now, but I have an opportunity to pay off about 14k in debt on accounts due over 180 days, and most likely charged off. I guess the question is, is the rebuilding process as bad for someone who does pay off the balances (even when long overdue) as when the person just goes ahead and files for BK? Will I look the same regardless?
I was all ready to file Chap 7, and someone has given me the opportunity not to. I guess I'm just stuck in that, what's the point of even trying if my accounts are already charged off? It just doesn't seem fair to do the payoff if my score and rebuilding are going to be just as bad if I did file for BK.
Thanks for the input....
