RE-Trustee requesting repayment

HRM - you responded to my first question about the trustee requesting a repayment from my Mother-In-Law. The Loan was for credit card depts that she paid for us about a year ago; we have the cancelled check's that she wrote to the cc company - can the trustee make her remit the amount that we paid her back for that loan and If she can do that what if my Mother-In-Law who is now a widow doesn't have the money to give to her.
