    Still confused about credit report(s).

I have been reading the post on cleaning up credit report(s), but am still a little confused.

When a creditor lists an account as charge-off, sold account, or placed with collections (prior to bankruptcy)... should they still show as IIB? A couple of my accounts changed to IIB, can I dispute the others? Should I state that they were IIB? Should I dispute with the credit report company (transunion & etc) or with the creditor directly?

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

From my experience...you should dispute with all 3 CRA's. It doesn't hurt to let the OC know that they should now be reporting IIB (it helped my dispute process speed up).

As far as Charge off/collection account...I got conflicting info. Experian told me that as long as it states IIB it can/will still state collection/ charge off cause at 1 point it was. On Equifax and Transunion..that ones that are coded IIB do not state collection.charge off. So, I am not sure there.

Personally..I don't think it should state collection/charge off if it is now IIB. The collection/charge off is a more neg affect on the score than IIB. (From my personal score). Good luck

i agree. ex reported all of my iib as co and it lowered my score. it didn't originally report as such, but after a dispute, they actually changed it to co!! i was not happy. alas, i am disputing again...

Good luck in disputing with them. I have tried and tried to get the co changed to just IIB but they tell me that they cannot do that. Let me know how it ends up.

disputing with all 3 cr's is a pain. Your easiest bet is to order cr fro the agency's website. Dispute using their own software tools, and then wait.

Writing letters is very cumbersome. You'l have to send many, plus register them, etc. etc.

problem is.... i think it's ex or eq, but one of them will only let you dispute once online. it will then give you a message 'already disputed.'

Agreed. Purchasing a CBR thru their website can expedite the process of your disputes. It's help me in the past with EQ and EX. Trans Union I did dispute by mail.

Any tips? You seem to have a good score. I still have 'balance owing' on experian. grr.

Make sure all tradelines are reporting IIB first off. Then try for the "not mine" approach with just 5 itmes per dispute. Dispute using their online dispute tools. I've had 11 items removed from EX so far.

Request information on how to get creditor information that is reported in credit report corrected. Creditor reports that BK file in Feb 2006 when in fact filing date was Sep 03. I've tried to dispute but results come back as remain. We're currently awaiting discharge of our BK. Thanks
