Discharged 13 and credit issue with bank that bought the bank that owned our mortgage

We received a discharge in December of 2013. My credit reports show that the negative bankruptcy will be removed next month on all of my accounts that were in the chapter 13. We always paid our mortgage, and it was not in the chapter 13. The bank was bought by a PA Bank. The new bank has a negative item about the bankruptcy, and it is showing that it will not be removed until 2021. Is this legal? I want to buy a car soon and was hoping for a good rate.

Not sure about the legal part, but ch 13 items should fall off after 7 years from filing. I have some falling off sooner. I would try and dispute it sounds like they used the discharge date.

I suggest moving to another bank or credit union. After you build up some history with a CU, you can get a better rate.
