    Your federal refund should only go directly to the trustee if he instructed the IRS to do so. Which state are you in? Anyways, whether the trustee can take your refund depends on BK district, too. You can exempt your tax refund(s) from BK in some states (not in Arizona).

    Once you submit your federal return, make sure to go online the irs web site and choose "Where's my refund?" You should either get something like "no status yet" or "we mailed you your refund on xxx" or whatever. However, if you get "There has been a delay in processing your refund, please call..." then there's a high chance the trustee re-routed your refund to the BK court.
