All the Lawyers I went to had a questionnaire which covered salary and debts so I would ask if they have a questionnaire and fill it out a head of time. If they don't have a questionnaire I would bring my lastest statement from all my debts and a copy of my latest paystub to get them started with my financial information. For expenses I would just go verbal for now and if they need evidence they will ask for it once you hire them.

The free meeting they just want to get an idea of your finances so they can see how difficult of a case it is.

Basically you are trying to decide who will do the best job, so ask them as many questions as you can think of so you will feel comfortable with them handling your case. I found a website through google with some suggestions.
