What should I do first?
We are going to be d/c from our ch 13 in 2 weeks. Both of our cars are very old (paid off) and over 138k miles. We've put about $8,000 into them since filing in 04 and are in desperate need of a car that will fit our whole family into it and isn't falling apart. I'm wanting to apply at Lending Tree within a few weeks of d/c for an auto loan. My question is should I apply for a credit card first or would it hurt my chances of getting a loan? I really don't want to do the wrong thing here. I've already disputed all 3 CRA's. |

Yup now is the time to start shopping for cards. A new tradeline or two combined with your discharge should give your scores a nice move upward in the next 2-3 months.

Capitol One is pretty good about offering loans for cars after BK. I was offered one for 12 1/2 percent, but since I bought my car just before filing I had gotten 9.9%.
So I had applied for a loan to refinance my car just to see if anyone would bite. But I kept my loan as it is. Best of Luck, CMIYC |
