    Auto loan during Chapter 7

My vehicle needs to be replaced replaced for mechanical reasons. Do I need permission from the trustee to get a new auto loan? One dealer told me this but I think that they were thinking about a Chapter 13. I have researched and only found information regarding this in Chapter 13 references.
Thanks in advance for any info.

During the process of bankruptcy - whether it be 7 or 13 you are in a postion that you are under the control of the bankruptcy court and the eyes of the Trustee.

You cannot buy, sell, transfer anything WITHOUT the aproval of the Trustee............. If you do you are risking the chance of your case being dismissed.

SOOOOO Best advice I can give you is talk to your attorney about getting another vehicle, or if you filed pro se then discuss it directly with the Trustee.......

Cover you butt - or believe me THEY WILL TAKE A BITE OUT OF IT..................

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
