Honda's or Toyota's. Most of them easily get over 200,000 miles. I saw one for sale with 394,000 miles on it!! They say over 80% of the toyota's sold over 20 years ago are still on the road.

Just coming out of BK, I bought a 1994 Grand Marquis. We called it the "Granny-mobile" because that is what it looked liked. Anyhow, we paid 3000 for this car and it had 98K miles on it or so. We drove this car everywhere!!! I sold it 2 years later, with 150K miles on it and got 2K back out of it. The only money I put into the car was brakes, tires, and we replaced 1 rusty brake line.

I see these cars EVERYWHERE!! They were built strong, and they last. They are also rear wheel drive and with a bit of weight in the trunk...it gets around like a tank in the winter. Great car!! I loved it. My biggest complaint, it didn't have a CD player and was not pretty. But it drove and rode very nice and was extremely dependable.

    Hi,

Just in case we turn back one or both vehicles (I'm really wanting to be cash only) - what are some good, reliable beater cars or minivans?

    Thinking of $5000 or less?

    Thanks!

    Lynn
