I was contacted by a collection agency regarding a 200.00 bill they claim I owe to a hospital. I requested verification and they sent me a hodgepod of information on a medical stay that ran about 40,000 dollars and there is 200.00 still unpaid. This bill is from 2012 and I am thinking about responding to their verification telling them it is nonsense and the bill is not mine.
I believe if they take this to small claims court they will not be able to prove the debt. If I pay it they will probably slap my credit report with a paid collection
account. Any thoughts on the best way to deal with this?
