I can't seem to find out if/when I am getting a check. The website says "We are sorry. Specific information about your Stimulus Payment is not available."
My sister and parents got theirs already. Anything that has to do with IRS is never easy going for me. I was sure to pay what I owed them too at tax time. Thankfully it wasn't much, considering.

I have not heard this but will ask my brother about it. He is stationed in Germany. He has been there for 9 years. He has done tours in Iraq twice. Afganistan once. He almost died in Kosovo. Yet he gets nothing because he married a woman from Germany and has had 3 children? He is still an American and if thats the policy for this stimulus then that really...pardon my choice of words but SUCKS!Originally posted by JRScott View PostI don't think you understand. The soldier isn't getting one either because his/her spouse is not a legal US resident, despite the fact the soldier is and is fighting for our nation.

They probably won't have one "next year". This isn't an annual payment.
And yes, you should be grateful you're getting this FREE MONEY that nobody thought they were getting. If and when you get it, think of it as a bonus...and be patient.

No, I didnt say I planned my trip just because of the stimulus check. Never ever would I expect the IRS to send anything on timeOriginally posted by MajorMike View PostDon't EVER count on the IRS and make your vacation plans around it. Just be thankful you're getting a check at all.
$2100, must be nice. Some don't get anything...
That would just be a bonus for us to spend a bit more then we have planned. I just wonder why every message board I go to when someone asks a question in regards to wondering when they are getting their check someone replies "just be thankful your getting one" Kinda like a slap in the face yanno
Next year we probably wont be getting one because we barely made the cutoff on AGI so yeah Im thankful since you mentioned it

I received the notification yesterday that I would be getting $1,200.00. No where does it talk about the fact that ultimately, the IRS may apply some and/or all of it to my present debt that I am in repayment on...why oh why is everything regarding this so vague....if I don't physically get this $, I am certainly not putting any stimulus back into the flow of things...?

. I do agree a provision should have been made to make it exempted in BK cases. I also believe it should have been written so that if someone was married to a foreigner who does not have US legal status they'd still get it. (For example some soldiers who are deployed abroad and married abroad are being denied a stimulus check because their spouses are not legal US residents, despite the fact that the soldier has been deployed overseas the whole time of the marriage...)

Originally posted by mamatyson74 View Posthmmm I dont understand this, I checked today on the irs.gov site and I get this info:
Your payment of $2,100.00 is scheduled to be issued on May 23, 2008. If you do not receive your check by June 20, 2008, please contact us again. We are unable to take any action until then.
My question is..........why do they say the 23rd? thats a whole week later then the original date of the 16th. PLUS its saying we are receiving a check.....we did DD and paid our fee from a debit card. It doesnt make any sense. If we were supposed to receive a check by the last 2 digits of dh's SS# then we would be in July. This whole stimulus thing is making my head hurt. We have a trip planned the weekend of memorial day and I would love to use some of this instead of my paycheck.

That's Congress for youOriginally posted by MajorMike View PostWow, it's so different everywhere. Our trustee doesn't want our stimulus, even IF the IRS didn't take it. The stimulus should of had stipulations where it goes to EVERYONE, regardless of whether they are in BK or owed taxes. It is MEANT to stimulate and help the economy, not pay debts.

Mr.
My husband and I went to a BK attorney yesterday and he asked us if we had received our stimulus check yet and we told him we hadn't. He told us not to file BK until after we get the check because if we did the trustee would get it. I used TaxCut to figure our taxes but didn't have the refunds direct deposited so we won't be getting our check until sometime after May 23rd. Last digits of hubbies SS 16.
