    Six Down, 52 to Go......

Well, 6 months have passed, 7 actually since I have filed. But I've made 6 payments of a 58 month plan.

Sometimes it seems like it's not even been that long. Other times it seems like time is dragging..........

And I worry about stuff like, what happens if this is the year the boiler gives up the ghost? What if the car dies beyond what I can afford to fix?

But still, it's a better situation than I was in before. And 52 months can't possibly drag out forever....can they?

Take good care, everyone! Thanks for all the support and good advice.

Six payments made is six less payments in the long run - congratulations! Every one of us in Ch 13 prays every day the car holds up, no appliances give out, etc. etc. Still you are so right, cso5 - as difficult as Ch 13 is, it's still far better than the horrible hounding by creditors, the constant creditor harrassment, and wondering every month how you were going to stay afloat while sinking farther and farther under.

So glad you are finding the forum helpful! Stop by for advice and venting any old time - that's why we're here!

I'm am right there with you. We just made our 6th payment in a 60 month plan. The worst of it is over for us. (Or that is how I'm going to look at it) Our payment actually went down $215 per month and will drop again in 11 months. I figure if we could make the first payments the rest would be ok.
Life is better. I can't imagine what it will be like when it is all over.

Congrats on making those payments. We just filed Wednesday (we are the ones with the same lawyer as you). I was whining about 60 payments and being stuck forever. DH says its like a car payment (and a lower one). We will be paying 2000 less a month than we were, so that is sweet. I am worried about the car, the boiler, the roof, etc. Hopefully we can tuck aside a little for emergencies.

Hang in there. We have 2 1/2 more months to go on our Chapter 13. We pay $2700 per month.

This has been the hardest thing we have ever gone through. Up until recently, I haven't told anyone that we had filed bk. About a month ago or so, I had to tell my sister because I needed to borrow money until payday. She started questioning where all our money went and I didn't want her to think we were gambling or doing drugs or something so I told her. What a relief. lt was no big deal to her and she knows that after December, it will be smooth sailing for us.

We have been so strapped. We go from buying school supplies and school clothes to Homecoming dresses to the next thing. With the price of gas in the last few months, it's been horrible.

I can't wait until this is over. I WILL NEVER EVER let this happen again. I am going to be able to share my financial knowledge with not only my kids but others too.

I still can't believe our marriage survived all this...but it did.

A big congratulations with high-fives, downhill! Whether your plan is 3 years, 5 years, or inbetween somewhere, what you have achieved is something few others will really ever understand. Those of us who are currently in Ch 13s ourselves praying each month to make it to through to the next month salute your perserverance and stamina to have made it almost to the end. The stress is tremendous and just goes on and on....so glad for you that the end is near. Thanks for sharing!

              Cheers to ALL~

We are on a 3 year (36 months payment) Chapter 13. Our first payment was January 2004 for $2700 . Our last payment is due the end of December 2006. I can't wait until it's over. My husband gets paid twice a month and our payment comes right out his paycheck. $1246.15 comes out of each check. It's horrible.

Having a light at the end of the tunnel is what gets us through this. I wrote down the 72 payments and the pay dates. I had the beginning balance and each week showed the new lower balance. Each year, each month, as it goes down, the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter and brighter. I am almost ready to put on my sun glasses.

Trust me. If we could do it, you can too.

It looks as though that's how they'll take out ours twice a month~ that's just a grueling thought~ but I know it is possible~

we talked to atto today, about chap 13, he told us it would be
a 36month plan... how did you end up with 60 months?

After the new bk law went into effect a year ago, it's typical for those in a 36 month Ch 13 plan to have had an income below the state's median level but still had sufficient disposable income to support a Ch 13 plan. Those in a 60 month plan had an income above the state's median. This isn't a hard and fast rule....just seems to be the pattern most bk courts have fallen into.

Unfortunately for us we filed before we found this site. We are below the median and still got a 60 month plan. Our lawyer said that our trustee didn't like 36 months because the payments were higher each month and a lot of people never completed them. We are also a 0% plan. The only thing in our plan we are paying is an auto loan, our lawyer and the trustee. All our cc debt is 0% payback.

We could have gone with a 7 but the lawyer said we may loose our house which was current and we had no equity. We got scared and filed quick.
