I don't know if there is a hard and fast answer for this one. But this is what I would do.
Sign on with a Credit Monitoring Service. Take a look at your Credit Reports. Make sure everything is reporting accurately. You could have CC's still reporting balances when they shouldn't be. You could be paying your mortgage or auto loan outside the plan and the CRA's show them otherwise. Dispute anything that's inaccurate and get your accts reporting correctly. Then drop the service.
My thinking is you never know what will happen. You can take on 2 types of new debt, with the approval of the Trustee, after you've been in the plan for a year. A car loan and a mortgage. Your car may die. Your job may transfer you to another city. If your Credit Reports are cleaned up, you're prepared for anything that may come your way.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

thanks
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly as these are my concerns. I was never behhind and car payments or mortgage and these are being paid outside the plan. Although this is how it is set up, both Ford and Chrysler are making me pay to the bankruptcy dept. I assumed that this meant that this would show as a positve to credit depts. However, since being on this forum it appears that this may not be the case.
Countrywide did not change they way they handle the payment of my mortgage but I want to check this to see if this is correct. I'm I thinking the right ways here.
Again, thanks for everyones help.

I filed a Chapter 13 in 2005. In 2006, I went and corrected alot of information on my credit report. Alot of the creditors were showing delinquency after the filing date which was not correct as I was never late on anything before I filed. I got all of that incorrect information either deleted or corrected. Other than that, there is not much else that you can do until you complete your plan and are discharged.
I, too was never late on my car payment with Chrysler Financial and was placed in their Bankruptcy area. I think that the reason that they do that is so they do not violate anything during the bankruptcy. However, what I have found is that Chrysler Financial is extremely rude and condescending when you contact them. I think that they could tone their atitude down a notch or two. I have always been 1 payment ahead and have never been late. I did not cram down so the original contract has not been altered. They are getting their $$ every month. They don't need to treat me like a deadbeat.sigpicPersevere: "To continue a course of action, in spite of difficulty, opposition or discouragement."

Iknow how you feel. I was shocked when they quit sending me my payment coupons as I have never been late with them on 7 autos over a 12 year period. Our Jeep is only a few months old and there was no cram down. However, I called them and they were very rude and said since I was bankrupt it was my problem to get this to them on time and with the correct account #. No more coupons and they never let me know where to send. I had to make several calls to find this information.

I understand your flustrations with secured debt and payment information while someone is in bankruptcy. In some ways, you have to respect them for following the letter of the law concerning the automatic stay... (being rude though is unexcusable).Chapter 13 Filed 4/03/06  341 Meeting Complete 5/11/06 :yes2:

IN-DEBT, I've been trying to do some of this, but it gets flustrating. It seems they are different in all 3 credit reports and it is a major hassel trying to get all 3 corrected. Then, the amount of documentation required to send to the credit bureaus...well, most of it I don't have.Originally posted by lrprn View PostIN-DEBT has this question - Should I start trying to fix credit reports as I'm only in 5th month of 60 in my chapter 13, or should I wait a while?Chapter 13 Filed 4/03/06  341 Meeting Complete 5/11/06 :yes2:

What I did was take a statement and white out certain information (like next payment due date, etc) and made several copies of the statement. When I send a payment, I just put the date that it is due for on the coupon and send. I have not had any problems to date. The address that my attorney received from the lawyers at Chrysler where to send payments is:Originally posted by IN-DEBT View PostIknow how you feel. I hope that this helps. Make sure to put your account number on the check. I doesn't get processed any faster; it appears to take 14 days for a payment to process, but it is getting to the right place.sigpicPersevere: "To continue a course of action, in spite of difficulty, opposition or discouragement."
