    Additional Income

In the process of getting the Chapter 13 filed.

Should I wait before seeking a second job. I'm going to need work done on my car that will be outside my budget. I don't want any additional income to wreck my plan...If I get any extra I'm going to need it for those bills and not to be counted towards repayment.

    Thanks!

Yes, your lawyer will likely advise you to wait at least until after your 341 meeting and your plan is confirmed. If you haven't filed yet, then the second job's income will count toward the last six month income calculation and depending on how much extra the second job adds to that total, you could end up having to keep the second job throughout your Ch 13 just to make the payments.

Be sure to ask your lawyer how a temporary second job income to replace a necessary asset like a car after filing is typically handled in your district - this varies between trustees. Don't want to do something before filing that could potentially mess that up.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
