Balance On Hand

Question...

After 38 months of $1988 a month ($77k) I finally reached the end in early May. Last payment made on May 8th, case closed on May 10th, discharge signed by the judge on May 18th.

There STILL shows a balance on hand of just over $34k. There hasn't been a disbursment to a creditor since April of 2006. Calling the trustee's office gets me no where. They say after final disbursement the case will actually be done and gone.

Why have they not disbursed payments to creditors in over a year?

It reflects on my credit report balances on those credit accounts as if they haven't been paid, therefore after closing I'm still showing balances on those accounts.

I realize it's early in the process of discharge, but it seems all of the funds should have been paid out prior to the judge discharging the case, doesn't it?

Is this hurting me in some way?

Is there a problem no one is telling me about?

This seems a bit strange. Did you end up paying a higher % back to creditors then originally anticipated? I am interested in the resolution so I am sub-ing to this thread. Please update when you find out whats up.

Is it possible that you've had a change in Trustee in your District?? I have noticed at the DOJ website several postings this year to fill Trustee positions in various Districts around the country.

Also,........... Even tho you're done with your payments, the Trustee is gonna have to Audit your case and do a final accounting. That has to be done before your case will officially Close. Could be the Trustee will disburse the final payments at that time.

Beyond that,.......... Who knows??!!

No change in trustees. We originally had a 100 percent payback. Shouldnt' the final audit come prior to the discharge??? Seems to make sense to me.

Does Pacer or any other site show something different than the chapter13network???
