I have a credit card that was charged off prior to me filing Bankruptcy. they sold it to a collection agency. The current status shows-Charge Off. Do they have to take off the The charge off status or do they have the right to keep it as is.

Do they have to take off the The charge off status or do they have the right to keep it as is. Since the charge-off happened before you filed, the original creditor can keep the account listed as a charge-off because it's accurate.

They can keep it as a charge off. But, they must report a 0 balance in the tradeline.

I talked to Equifax last night and I have included in bankruptcy on some of my creditors but showing a blank on the balance due..She said if it's blank it's considered zero balance...Any truth to this? Or does it have to have the actual # 0 where the balance is?

Don't worry about what is on your report - charge-off or bankruptcy. The comment "bankruptcy' stays on the report for 10 years, other negative comments come off after 7 years.
