Is it going to look funny?

I got on the envelope system as soon as I realized I was going to declare BK. I am required to accept direct deposit, I can't get paper checks.

I withrdaw the amount I need per month and put it into envelopes. As with cash, a lot of times you walk out of the store and the guy or girl didn't give you a receipt.

Is there a better way to do this before BK? I really don't want to use my debit card because that's part of the reason I got into financial trouble - I can't deal with plastic. The only way I can keep a budget is with these darn envelopes.

    Any suggestions?

I really don't think it going to be that serious. Just make a note of what you spent your money on.
Success is reachable, stretch out your arm and grab it.

Good for you that you found a budget system that works for you! Way to go!

If you are worried about someone asking what you spent your cash on, save receipts and keep a small notebook to write down purchases. As long as your cash amounts spent is close to what is in your account at any given time, you'll be fine.

Generally you won't need any receipts unless you are making large or unnecessary purchases.

You can always ask for a receipt, in many places if requested they have to give you one.

But if its just everyday expenses like food, gas, etc I wouldn't worry as much about it. No ones asked me for receipts yet and I do generally keep some of my check as cash for incidentals.
