First year of plan done! How are you guys doing?

Well, I just mailed payment #12, so my first year of my 56-month plan (100% payback in 56 months) is now done! I'm doing well so far, with no major vehicle or health issues (knock wood). My credit must still be OK, because I had to sign up for a new cell phone (my pay as you go cell was swiped) account with Verizon, and it got approved.

How are you guys doing that are still in your plans? And any words of reassurance from those that have completed your plans?

Hanging in there, I guess! We're in our 19th month now and managing to make our payments. We are in the process of selling our house and moving to a less expensive place (renting for now of course!). It is very difficult to leave the house I've raised my family in, but we will survive.

It's good to hear from you, GUIN,........ AND,......... Jane Taylor.

Both of you!! Long time no see.

Glad to hear both of you are doing OK. Both in life and with your Ch 13 Plan Payments.

Good Luck with the move, Jane.

I know all too well about leaving the house the kids grew up in. It's hard. And I won't say, "You'll/They'll get over it." It's been 2 years for us and we're still not over it.

        Hanging in here, too.

I've just made payment 16, 42 to go.

In the almost year and a half since I've filed, my car has almost died several times. But I've kept it limping along. I investigated a 722 funding loan, but thought better of it. I figure when repairs get to be about $400 a month, that's when I'll be forced to take on a new loan, since that's what my payment would have been. It's funny to think in years past, I would have just done a car loan, without regard to downpayment (none), interest rate (high), negative equity rolled in (lots) -- which was how my prior car loans were structured, and why I'm in this mess. Partly why.

It's odd to just pay cash / use my debit card for everything. When the $$ is gone, it's gone until either the middle or the end of the month, when I am paid again. But I am adjusting.

Nothing major has broken in the house, so I am grateful for that, too.

But I worry. I worry more than when I wasn't in a Chapter 13 -- 'cause I could always find some fool out there to lend me more money. Ha, who really was the fool in that situation?? Borrowing is no longer an option -- for any kind of emergency.

But we are lean and mean here - and waiting to come out the other side. My lawyer and his staff are wonderful people, and I haven't felt like, ok, you are filed, good luck with that -- at all from them. I call when I have questions and they answer my questions -- I realize I'm pretty lucky all the way around.

Good to hear how others are doing. Keep plugging along!

Good to hear from you, GUIN!

We just made payment #15 of 57 - so far, so good. Our Ch 13 remains unconfirmed because we're the perfect test case for two gray areas in the current bk law. After months of back and forth wrangling with our trustee about how the Oct 05 bk law should be interpreted, our lawyer is crafting an amended plan that will be submitted soon.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

            06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
            06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
            07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
            09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
            08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

            10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

                I completed mine.

It was the best thing that I have ever done.

It felt HORRIBLE he entire time that I was in the plan, but now?

Oh my. Life is soooooooooo much better. No one calling, and I have control of my money.

                My mistakes are gone.

It was awful and hard, but it was worth EVERY awful, hard, and embarrassing moment.

Keep going. Finish it off. You will be so much better off, and your life will take an amazing turn for the better.

I NEVER use credit more than I can pay off in a month, other than my mortgage and my car. Suddenly-- I have money to do whatever I want. YEAH!!!!

Discharge is amazing. Work toward that. It's worth every moment of misery.

Congrats on the first year! Celebrate the milestones. They keep you going.

Will mail in payment #36 of 36 on Friday! Finally! So close that I can taste it.

Hang in there. 36 months was a LONG time. I couldn't imagine 56. New Law folks have to be more resilient. Even harder than before. Thanks BAPCPA.

Congratulations JRT! I can't wait until I can say that I have made 60 out of 60 payments. I too filed under the Old Law. The new Bankruptcy Law seems so much harder and does not allow too much "wiggle room" in their monthly budgets.
