I'm down to a month or two before I file and there's some details I haven't figured out by all of the reading I've done.
I'm wondering how a credit (positive) balance gets handled.
The biggie is tuition for the kids' school. I paid the entire years worth of tuition up front instead of the normal deal where I pay a feee to a third party to perform an ACH debit of my account every month. How can I figure out if the unused portion is an asset or not?
The next biggie is my car payment with the Credit union. I applied for and was granted a payment holiday which means that they push my next payment due date ahead by a full month. I've been making payments every month but on paper it appears as if I'm making my payments a full month early. If my payment due date is way ahead when I file, is this an asset?
The last one is the Electric Company because I'm on a fixed payment plan. My bill is the same every month and I carry a credit balance some of the year and break even at the end of the year. Right now I have a credit balance -- is this an asset?
I'll ask my attorney too, but I appreciate all of the thoughtful answers I get here.
