Finally Filed

Well we finally, finally got our Chapter 7 filed yesterday! Man I had no idea when we started this process back in June of this year exactly how long it was going to take. All the paperwork and all the records and garbage we had to keep updating and sending him. We were supposed to file on Friday, Oct. 5th but since we wrote checks for cash at the bank to pay the final attorney fees he wanted to wait and file it on Monday then over that weekend in the mail we received two checks in the mail from our accident insurance policies because my husband had an accident at work in Sept. and we turned it in so we got like $1300 so we had to deposit it and pay all of our bills and get rid of it and then we had to make sure all of it was gone and out of our account before we could file so FINALLY yesterday we were able to file.

I feel so much relief just having it filed and knowing that my creditors can't hound me anymore. Next will be our 341 meeting. That I am worried about. We are over the median income only by a little but he says that with our expenses and the area we live in (one of the most expensive counties in the state) that he says we shouldn't have a problem filing for a 7.

So now onto the next part of my worrying

I don't think it will matter much if your over just a little... as long as you don't have lots of cash or items to sell. GOOD LUCK!!

That's just my opinion, BTW.... I can't be sure so don't take my word for it.

It's usually all downhill from here, FS - you can relax now until the nerves start up again as your 341 meeting gets closer....which 99.9% will be a piece of cake but it's always so hard to accept that when it's YOUR case

I know what you mean. Up until a week or so ago we had the kinder, gentler credit cards bothering us, who would just leave polite messages. Now it's the collection agencies with the mean voices and calling 15-20 times a day, usually not even leaving a message, but just driving us nuts. I finally turned the ringer off.
We are filing in the next 10 days or so, and I can't wait to have them stop hounding us.

Then it's the 341 meeting, which in our area is only about 3 weeks later, thank goodness, though I'm sure I'm going to be a nervous wreck about my balance transfers even though I should'nt be. The thing about the 341 meeting is it's the "unknown" and most of us fear the unknown, especially when it is a specific unknown factor that can wreck our lives one way or another! But hopefully it will go well!

What sucks about all this is that you are always waiting! Waiting to file, then waiting for the 341, then waiting for the discharge, then waiting for the closing! Ugggghhh! I hate waiting!

June was our month to get this process started too so we'll be watching to see how things go for you all and we'll be hoping for the best.

We've got some significant medical expenses we need to put behind us so we're holding out as long as we can.
