Ok...I have been talking to one atty over the phone (who is really nice), but I took ya'lls advice and decided to talk to several. So, I have an appt with 3 different attorney's and wanted to know besides telling him about my situation, is there specific questions that ya'll find important that I need to ask him. Also, all of these attorney's specialize in bk, but 1 of the 3 mentioned that the atty is certified by the state in bankruptcy. What does this mean. Should I only be looking to speak with someone who has a certification.

If you have any special circumstances it would be good to ask their oppinions on how they each handle those.
I always ask them....on average how long does it take to prepare the paperwork for filing?
Also...how long does it take them to return phone calls and emails?
I recommend watching them in court once or twice if you have the chance. Call the courthouse and ask when bankruptcy proceedings are being heard.Filed!!04/23/2008[X] 341 5/27/2008[X]

Here's a helpful list of what to ask and what to bring when you interview each bk lawyer - http://moranlaw.net/interview.htmlOriginally posted by busbis View Postis there specific questions that ya'll find important that I need to ask him.
Being certified in bankruptcy just means the lawyer has passed a bankruptcy certification exam offered by the American Board of Certification - http://www.abcworld.org/broclient.pdf .Also, all of these attorney's specialize in bk, but 1 of the 3 mentioned that the atty is certified by the state in bankruptcy. Many excellent bankruptcy lawyers have not taken this exam, so I wouldn't allow it be the sole decider about who you retain. Just because a bk lawyer passed a written test doesn't guarantee the bk lawyer is necessariily better....just like when someone has passed their state's driving test, but is still a bad driver
