I have been getting so much help from reading this forum and so I decided to join. I filed for chapter 13 on August 15 and just got confirmed yesterday. I can't believe the relief I feel with the phone not ringing nor the door bell chimming with creditors. I wish I had filed 2 years ago. I am in a 36 month plan and then I'll retire and enjoy life a little. Now that I'm confirmed and if I pay my monthly payments on time is there anything for me to do other than just lay low and stay below any radar?

Just as you state...what a lot of people find hard to do is change their lifestyle during a Chapter 13 since there is no credit to fall back on and it's all cash only. You will be fine if you are able to adjust to that, pay all bills on time (including electric, etc.) including your Plan payment. If you find you have difficulty paying any bill, contact your attorney immediately. Do not be late and do not miss any payments. The worst thing you can let happen is to have your Plan dismissed. What also helps is to save what you can because during those 3 years, you can bet you will need new tires or vehicle repairs, the water heater or another appliance will blow and there is no credit card to utilize. It will happen so be prepared. What helps is if you have handy family or friends who can help with vehicle or household repairs.

Here in Arizona, plans generally take an average of six months to get confirmed. Confirmation does not happen at the 341 meeting but get put on a judge's waiting list. As for the lifestyle changes, it has been 3 years since I've used a credit card and I've never been late on anything. Cash only for me. For some reason, all the credit cards jumped their interest rates up so high(even though I paid on time) that I could not afford to make the minimum any longer and the balances were going up each month!! I tried a debt reduction company for a while and what a waste of money and precious time that was. Sure wish I could get my money back from them. Well anyway, lesson learned.
