    Spring Garden

We planted ours today. 6 tomatoe plants, 2 bell peppers, 6 eggplants, 2 zucchini, 2 acorn squash, a bunch of hot pepper plants (my husband likes those - not me), lavendar, mint, & oregano. I'm starting watermelon seeds on my own and hope to plant those too.

I also have a strawberry patch that is doing very well, 2 artichoke plants that are huge and we're wondering when we'll be seeing the artichokes, plus a ton of rasberry plants that are just coming out of hibernation from the winter.

I had a huge winter garden but learned that the temperature here is too warm for winter gardens (it was my first time). My brocholis grew large but only one actual brocholi came out and then it flowered. My spinach didn't grow well. My carrots came out all deformed. ect. We won't plant a winter garden again.

I cant wait to get started on mine. Hopefully the weather here will improve soon- still too cold in Pa. I finally have a huge yard to plant in but I am going to keep it simple. Any gardening tips for a first-timer?

Wait until the last freeze. Put steere manure in your soil. PA - east coast....definately still too cold! But I'm hardly an expert.

I can't wait either. I have already planned it actually. Waiting for that last frost, here safe time to plant is May sometime, I think the 15th.

I have already been out in the flower beds working. Cleaning them up. Signed up for a Flower Walk here where I live and that means I have to have them looking good by June.

It's been a long winter and finally we are having some decent days!! Yippie!!

I'm planning to plant a few plants, nothing extravagant. Probably convert a flower bed for a few tomato and squash plants. Not out of the freeze here yet though

We love to garden too - veggies, herbs, and flowers. Our last frost date here is April 15, so still have a month to go. Was out looking over our garden tools last weekend - sharpening the hoe, gathering up what's needed to plant....can hardly wait! Nothing tastes as good as that first home-grown tomato in June/July and using the fresh herbs for cooking as soon as they green up in May - yum!

Yep, I'm a "garden queen" too!!
Small gardens now with the basics, tomatoes, peppers, green onions, leaf lettuce, hot peppers, watermelons, corn, green beans.
Years ago HUGE GARDENS.... would can 200 qts each of beans, corn, etc year. Cellar stayed stocked year round.
When I was young if you could grow it, we did (corn, beans, turnips, spinach, lettuce, cabbage, peppers, etc)..... bought very little at the grocery as far as veggies and fruits.
Mine is partially planted already, and greenhouse is looking good too with all the follow-up plants.
              Yeahhhhhhhhhh, love home grown tomatoes.
Now just me, so garden is quite small. But still enjoy growing it myself and eating the fruits of my labor.
              Yum, Yum...........
              Minny

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
