This is a trip down memory lane, and my thoughts back then were not what they are now. I'm much older now, and hopefully wiser.Originally posted by magyar123 View PostAll in the family or Welcome back Kotter
Back then I thought both were great, and I got many laughs from both. The casting and acting, for sure, were outstanding for both. Today, so many years later, I think I remember Kotter more favorably.
Archie Bunker's character in "All in the Family" made me laugh back then, but today I realize that he really was the prototype of everything that was and is still wrong with America. He was a racist, a bigot, a homophobic, a radical right-winger in politics, a macho-man who demanded to be served by his wife, and just a big fat, ignorant boor. Carroll O'Connor played the role superbly, for he was a terrific actor. Jean Stapleton also played the dumb faithful wife role superbly. Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers did their part beautifully.
Unfortunately, today there are still many people out there just like Archie Bunker. And not enough people like Kotter, in my opinion.
My $0.10 worth. A penny isn't worth much anymore!BK 7 filed and discharged in 2004 after 30+ years of perfect credit. Life HAPPENS.
