First the credit card companies and now this....
I just got the renewal notice from my automobile insurance company and they pulled a credit report to determine the new rates for my policy. They want 50% more than last year and it's approaching double of what I paid two years ago when I last had good credit.
Bastards...
My renewal comes up in August, I wonder how it's going to go for us.

Wondering what you consider a high payment. Holy POOP, I pay $275 a month ! I've always had high insurance and at my ripe old age of 40 THATS A LOT ! Due to "being in the wrong place at the wrong time -fender benders etc." ok ok maybe a bit heavy on the metal ! But I've calmed down.
I'm with ALLSTATE, where "I'M IN 'THERE' HANDS!"

Some states are eliminating credit profiling by insurance companies. Ours did this past January and cannot raise your rates anymore due to BK or bad credit on your credit reports. If your state does not have credit profiling and you feel your rates were raised due to your bad credit and/or BK, contact your Dept. of Insurance in your State. If your State still does allow credit profiling, you're stuck.

We got our renewal and it actually went down. Our credit is worse than ever before :P
Some states such as Massachusetts don't allow insurance companies to use one's credit score as a factor in estabiling insurance rates.I don't know if I necessarily believe the factuality behind doing this, but "studies" indicate that people with bad credit file more fraudlent claims or they have a greater propensity of filing false claims than those with good credit.
I pay 129$ mth for full coverage on 2 newer vehicles.

Same here, I pay around $120 per month on 2 new vehicles (in Massachusetts).
Our auto insurance went up too, though our agent "said" it wasn't because of our BK, but with no claims and a $400 increase, I find that hard to believe.
We ended up switching to Geico. They didn't check our credit and our rate is about $200 less than what we were paying with Allstate before they jacked us up. I definitely would suggest shopping around, there are several insurers that don't fact in credit.
We used to have Allstate, they are expensive.

I have Allstate now. We are about to file BK 7. Our rates are relatively low; we have 2 vehicles insured (one is about to be junked and the other has full coverage as its financed). I'm worried about how the BK will affect our rates. My plan is to wait and see and if they really go up severely, we'll probably call Geico or another insurance company who doesn't check credit. We're in NY and I'm pretty sure they allow credit profiling in our state. I remember them checking our credit when we got the policy. However, our credit is so bad now that I'm afraid to even look at our credit score!
