Question What to ask attorney on initial visit?

I have made the decision to file for bankruptcy. Reading through the threads, I realize that I should wait at least 90 days from last purchase or advance.
Our company has an employee assistant program where they match you with local attorney and you get 30 minutes free consultation.
    I have 2 questions:
    1. What should I say/ask when I contact the attorney for the first time?

    2. Should I contact an attorney now, or wait?

I think you should do some consults with a few attorneys and see where you stand.

We would need to know a little bit more about your situation to know what you should ask. One thing for sure is to find out if they will do a means test on you before you retain them.

I think for the rest of my post bankruptcy life I will ALWAYS advise people to ask the attorney that they meet with if they will be the one in court the day of the 341.

It is very common for a 'fill in' to be there the day of the 341 BUT when that 'fill in' is absolutely nothing like the attorney you paid for and you think you could have done a better job if you had been all alone, there is something wrong. Now dont get me wrong I am sure some of the fill in attorneys are wonderful great people. I just want others to be aware that they may be just the opposite.

Just something to be aware of as we had no idea until the day we signed our papers that our attorney would not be there. Surprise.
