Getting information together to meet with attorney...

I'm meeting with an attorney this Thursday and next Wednesday....

Just getting all the information together is overwhelming. They both have huge questionares to fill out.

I've also been making a list of questions to ask....

*how much experience do you have filing 7/13?
    *how many cases get dismissed?
    *options for keeping car/house?
    *how does "cramming down" work?
    *reaffirming house and car?
*how to deal with expense check situation?
    *stop paying credit cards?
*filing separately...anything husband should be doing?

My head is swimming! I'm looking forward to going in though. I have a meeting with another lawyer next Wednesday the 16th and am calling another one to set up a time. I'm hoping that out of the three, I can find one that I like.

    Other questions????

Those look like good ones. In addition be sure to ask about all the stuff you've asked inother threads, so that he can relate his opinion on them

I've been talking to my husband more and more. He has some debt as well.

Loan for $12,000 that he pays $267.00 a month
Loan for $10,000 that he just makes interest payments on $1200 a year
A line of credit through is bank...$3000
Truck loan with a balance of $19,000 that he pays $445 a month.

He has some credit cards as well.
      Lowes...$300.00 balance
      Home Depot....$300.00 balance
      Citibank...$1200.00 balance
      Capital One...$255.00 balance

He brings home a little over $2,000 grand a month.

I'm wondering if the lawyer would think it is better for us BOTH to file?
      Roundbank...$400.00 balance

        Hi Brook,

I'm glad you are taking notes with you to meet with attorney(s). Don't forget to ask what they charge to file both 7 & 13 cases and what they charge to admend things in a ch 13 plan (3-5 years).

Sounds like you are in the right direction.

        Good Luck!

This is a great question to ask the lawyers you plan to interview. Don't meet with just one - you need to meet with 3-4 to get a good cross-comparison between them.

Also I would suggest that your husband come along to the appointments so he can learn too. It's well worth his time even if he decided not to file with you.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
