Good morning folks: It is 9:00am and the hurricane still rolls on. It really isn’t a hurricane but the winds at time get to 60mph. The water is the problem and we live on the St. Johns River. However since 1860 no damage as we are 15 feet high on a bluff. Our twenty year old dock built with PVC pipe and high, is in perfect condition, however the other six docks of our neighbors are damaged severely. Very high tides and I have never seen white surf rolling over our dock before and the others were completely under water. The thing has stalled over the middle of Florida and we get one rainstorm then wind then calm and it starts all over again. God has been good to us as I note no damage at all on our place. ‘Hub

WOW, at 15 feet you are in the North Florida Mountains! We are 7 feet above sea level at our property (according to Google Earth), never mind the bluff! Glad there is no damage, very glad. I hate hurricanes with a passion. The winds just screw the 21st century all to heel and create havoc in cities. God Bless you and all my Florida neighbors.

Hi All: We were very lucky in that we didn't lose power excepts for a couple of *burps*. There are several outages in St. Johns County, Duval, and Nassau counties. When I last checked the advisories this morning, the center was more or less over Tallhassee, and yet we were, and still are getting some fairly strong rain bands.
It's fascinating how these things form and can be so different from each other. We didn't have as much rain in 2004 with the three hurricanes that hit us as we got with this tropical storm. Of course we had more actual damage then. This storm practically covered the entire state from east to west coast, whereas others such as Andrew in '92 can wind themselves up into tiny little powerful donuts."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."
