Business CC ?? Nervous here !!

Since my discharge I have gotten a new job which is going to require a little bit of travel...Well I was told yesterday I have to fill out a "form" to receive the Citi business card. I have not discussed my BK with anyone at work especially since it's a new job and now I'm worried I will be turned down and "exposed" at the same time. I BK'd Citibank. I don't even know if it's a regular CC application with a credit check but since I will use it and be responsible for the monthly bill ( they reimburse you before the bill is due ) I am thinking they do all that...I am very nervous. Has anyone had any experience with this ??

You are just being signed up as an authorized user by your company. I have had many clients pre and post petition with these cards and it is isn't a problem for you to acquire it.

    Good Luck

SM, what matters is if your company is the guarantor of the card or if you are.

In my case, my company does not agree to pay any personal charges that I might put on my business credit card (not Citi, not AmexEx either) if I default. When I applied for my card (pre-filing, btw) I had to apply as if the card was for me, not my company.

Luckily for me because I had my business cc for 3 years with a perfect payment record before we filed Ch 13, the company agreed that as long as the balance was zero on filing day and personal charges never appear on my business card, they would allow me to keep it after filing. This card's bk manager said that if they *ever* see personal charges on my business card up until our Ch 13 is discharged, they will close my account immediately. We're two and almost a half years in and so far, so good. They've even renewed the card as well.

Bottom line - find out if you are applying for the Citi card using your own credit record as mine did or if your company guarantees payment, even if you default on personal charges. This makes all the difference in this situation.

Keep in mind that you are *not* the only person in your company who may be unable to qualify for a business card. Companies typically have a back-up plan for what to do in that circumstance.

Thanks Irprn I was told this would be for business use only and they can audit the account and people have actually lost their jobs when they used it for personal use ( someone charged furniture ! ) so to be cautious about what I use it for. I will make a phone call Monday and ask the financial person more specific questions about who is the guarantor..thank you !!
