    Banking Consolidation...what choices??

With WAMU being absorbed by Chase, Wachovia by Wells Fargo, that leaves 4 major players:

Chase,Wachovia, BofA, Wells Fargo. Citi is closing branches left and right.

I have been thinking about my banking lately. Since I am not a fan of either of these, and am looking for a bank/credit union that is national (I can bank in TX or CA or any other state), what are the options??

Anybody have a take on all of this 'consolidation'?

BK I am having the same problem. I think I have bank block almost want to keep my money under a mattress and make out money orders. I just keep going back the .79 over draft that cost me $900.00 I’ve read some of the rant boards about how it’s going on in all the banks. I looked at BOA I like that rounding thing they do. But I can see how that can get you in trouble. I think for the first time I am looking very closely and the fine print.
I hate chase after they sued my dead father for 1700 he forgot to pay before he died. They refused to accept a death cert with out a raised seal.
I had good luck with a CU years ago maybe I will try one.

I've been banking with the same CU since 1976 and have never felt the need to switch. They currently offer 5.01% cash back checking with no minimums or limits of any kind. The only requirements are that you agree to get your statement online and that you pay at least 3 bills each month through their bill-pay service. I think that as more and more commercial banks consolidate or merge, the more attractive CUs will become.

I think I'm going to go with a cu, as soon as I move.

How do you find out which ones have the more attractive offers??
I need billpay, preferrably ones that do ACH transactions vs sending a check??

Do a google search for credit unions in your area. I saw you were in Dallas, so I googled "Dallas TX credit unions" and came up with many! This may be a good place to start:

Texas credit union serving the state of Texas with personalized service, exceptional financial products, and innovative digital services.
