I filed 2 weeks ago and instead of Citibank marking my credit card account as IIB, They marked it as a charge off causing my score to dump another 50 points. Can they mark my account as a charge off after I already filled for BK?

Citibank Charge Off Question?

If the chargeoff occurred before the date you filed BK, that will remain on your credit reports and will not be removed. They will, however, indicate eventually that the account was included in bankruptcy but the charge off information will remain if it occurred before your filing date.Originally posted by ansky0007 View PostI filed 2 weeks ago and instead of Citibank marking my credit card account as IIB, They marked it as a charge off causing my score to dump another 50 points. The account was 30 days past due so it was current. We filed only 2 weeks ago when my credit showed "Pays as Agreed" yesterday the account was changed to charge off which was after we filed. They never would charge it off in less than 60 days. I had two accounts with them and they marked one IIB and the other Charged Off which makes no sense to me.Originally posted by Flamingo View PostIf the chargeoff occurred before the date you filed BK, that will remain on your credit reports and will not be removed. The best thing to do when it comes to stuff on your credit reports is wait at least 2 to 3 months after you obtain your discharge and then clean up. When they receive the BK information on that account, it may get changed at that time. If it doesn't, dispute the chargeoff information when you clean up your reports.Originally posted by ansky0007 View PostThe account was 30 days past due so it was current. ansky---I just filed 13..but when I was about 10 days late and citibank (zales) called and I told them I was filing they promptly sold off my account to a collection agency. They actually did this to my account and hubbys acct. These accounts were sent to collection agencies before I was even 30 days behind it is crazy but they did it. I pulled my CR before this happened but I am expecting to see the charged off marked next time i pull it. It seems like they shouldnt be able to do this if you arent 30 days late but looks like they fight dirty lol. Like Flamingo said though. Whatever chapter you file the negative will drop off before the BK does. Dont worry about it. You shouldnt be using credit anyway. If you do buy a car or house they creditor will see you filed BK and understand why the charge off is listed. Wait until your BK is completely over with and then worry about it. Dont sweat the small stuff it will all come out in the wash.Filed 11/25/2008
