    Vertigo

I should probably join a medical forum but does anyone else ever get vertigo & if so what have you done for it?

I am so tired of these doctors acting as if there is no big deal when everything around me is moving so fast & jumping around that I want to vomit and sometimes do & the only way to survive is tolay down & close my eyes. I feel so dangerous at times driving because I see cars moving when they are really standing still & it feels like I ma going straight when I turning left. this is an aweful sickness & they dont listen to me & how bad it gets sometimes.

I am having a real bad day with this so that is why I am writing about it here.

Also, what is the name of the kind of doctor who handles these disorders & symptoms?

did u try discussing with your family dr? it could be an inner ear infection, i would try an ear nose and throat doctor and have them check your inner ear....

maybe see a nuerologist as well....good luck.

I was going to suggest a neurologist as well.

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so badly Bandit. I hope you can find a good doctor who can get to the root of the problem and fix it so you're feeling better soon!

        Hi Bandit,
I used to have bouts with vertigo from time to time. My mother and aunt also do. We all take an over the counter medication now called Lipoflavonoid. I buy it at Walgreens. I take (1) tablet every day and I haven't had the problem in over a year now.
        Chapter 7 filed 10/21/2008
        341 - 11/26 went smooth NO ASSET
Took 115 days after 341 - But Finally DISCHARGED 3/25/09

Go to an ENT. There's something similiar to dramamine that doesnt cause drowsiness.

It's best not to close your eyes I think, rather, focus on one object of you can.

I agree with all the others. Vertigo can be caused by lingering inner ear infections or by neurological problems. A visit to an ENT (Ear/Nose/Throat) specialist is in order, and if that shows nothing then go to a neurologist. Nowadays there are several OTC medications that control unexplained vertigo very effectively, but it's always best to test for and rule out ENT/neurological problems first.

I know of three reasons for vertigo:

              Inner ear
              Tooth is infected
Neck and/or shoulders are so out it pulls (chiropractor)

Unfortunately you have to go through the list, MD, Dentist and Chiropractor.

I really want you to find out what it is and feel better! The drugs above might give you some relief until then. Try 'em out!

I've been on the floor before too, I understand.........

Last night was a nightmare of torture. I thought neurologist was just for nerve pain?

I feel confident it is not ear or teeth but you might be right about neck & shoulder being out because when I fell I landed on the tip of my chin and slammed it hard. I wish I had a video of that to see how much damage I could have caused to other things.

Oh my god, if i tried to stare at only one thing I would be puking my gutts out. It would be moving back & forth & sideways until I either fall down or I put myself down. It was so bad I fell off the kitchen chair last night & almost knocked the whole table over with me. that is when I wrote this thread to get help & went straight to bed.

                      What is ENT?

I went straight to my doctor this morning & waited in the parking lot for him to show up & I insisted he give me a script for vertigo. If they wont diagnose it I will diagnose it myself.
He changed his tune when he saw How serious I was and wrote me out for a bottle of something called MECLIZINE.
I popped two pills at the pharmacy & in about 10 minutes the spinning started to stop. I could not believe after a year of this I finally got some help today.

I noticed right after everything started to stop moving I had an enormous headache with massive pain that must have been covered up by the spinning. I am clutching this bottle like a snoopy dance right now.

Why do you have to take it every day? Do you get it every day?
Mine says take it every day but I am only going to take it when it get the symptom. I hope that is ok? It cost 8 bucks for 21 pills, 3 pills a day.

We should all search the net for the best medical forum. I bet it would be great & very helpful because it would be informative like this forum is, & you would get real experience from people who know what it is like & what to do about it, or at least try.

My doctor said it is Meniere's disease. (1) tablet everyday has kept the symptoms completely away for a year now. For me, it's definately worth it, because it's impossible to function when the world is tilting back and forth. I got so dizzy one time, when I put my head back to rinse the shampoo out of my hair that I fell down in the shower.

That is sad to me. I dont feel like I have Meniere's disease because I had two good months of no dizzyness at all. I could be wrong. MIne comes & goes in spurts & it could last for days or it might only last for a couple of hours.
I do know your pain because it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to function when everything starts tilting.

I am glad you at least have a doctor who is trying to help.
